要旨:
The Zohar (13th century Castile) offers a revolutionary solution to the enigma of messianic identity by presenting the Redeemer as a feminine figure identified with the Shekhinah, God's divine consort. The lecture will examine how sustained interfaith dialogue and polemic concerning the Mother of the Messiah—traversing Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—provided the conceptual framework that enabled Kabbalists to envision a feminine messianic figure. Our investigation traces the transformation of King David's persona from Midrashic literature to Kabbalah, contextualizing these developments within the broader religious landscape that includes Jesus's nativity narratives in the Synoptic Gospels and the portrayal of Mary in the Qur'an.
